Women's projects in Senegal
The Women's Project
The women's project is a close alliance of independent women who are not only convinced of the product, but also love their work.
When selecting the right partner, company founder Mame Diarra Gueye got a first-hand look at the company and met some of the producers in Senegal personally. The main factors in her choice were high job satisfaction, good pay and fair working conditions, which are reflected in the high quality of the products.
Promoting education and the economy in Africa
MADIGU also hopes that better living conditions will lead to progress in the education and employment of women who are still disadvantaged in other parts of Africa.
In the long term, MADIGU plans to set up its own production facility to extract the raw materials in order to be able to manufacture its own fair trade products under the MADIGU brand name in Senegal. In this way, MADIGU wants to support the economic development of Africa and highlight the wealth of its cultures and ingredients.
Social, ecological and economic sustainability
It is important that the products meet all the requirements of fair, social and ecological trade. The 100% natural and organically certified baobab oil is produced in Senegal by family businesses in close cooperation with the women's community. With their know-how and unbridled passion, they modestly offer high-quality products that are handmade with love. The startup MADIGU places particular emphasis on working on an equal footing.
A particular wish is to promote the planting and care of baobab trees (also known as tree of life or monkey bread tree) in order to secure their future in Senegal. Some of Africa's millennia-old landmarks are currently dying unexpectedly. The reasons are still unknown - scientists suspect that climate change plays a role.
This development should be counteracted by selling MADIGU products. The planting of new baobab trees in Senegal must be supported. A heartfelt wish is to be able to use part of the sales proceeds to protect the old original trees.
